Christmas is just around the corner and I CANNOT WAIT. I put my Christmas tree up this weekend… I know it’s not even December yet but this was the only free weekend I have before Christmas and to be honest I’m not complaining, I love it!
Today I am reviewing the HQHair Beauty Bauble, which would make a perfect Christmas gift for any makeup lover, but I just treated myself instead (oops!). This contains a couple of brands that I have been wanting to try for a while, and at £25 you can’t really go wrong… it contains a full-sized Illamasqua Gleam Highlighter which alone is £22. There are five products in total and the full worth value is £87!
The bauble tagline is Party In The Nude which refers to the fact that all the products are a nude/neutral colour so it is quite versatile and will suit a lot of people. It’s perfect for me as I never really go too bold with my makeup… I don’t often sport a red lip or coloured eyeshadow or anything like that.
The bauble contains three products from Illasmasqua:
I have heard so much about this product so I was really excited to try it. It is only a mini but it is a good opportunity to try it before investing in the full sized product which is £32. I really like this product… as the name suggests it is really hydrating. It contains microalgae, Vitamin C and B3 which work together to help maintain your skin’s hydration levels so not only is it good for your skin, but it also leaves your skin feeling refreshed. My foundation went on perfectly afterwards too so it is a great base. It is also vegan friendly!
This product was the main reason I wanted to buy this bauble, and as I said earlier this product alone costs £22 and the whole bauble is £25, so it’s a no-brainer… you get 4 extra products for just £3! However if I am being honest I was disappointed in this product. The Gleam Highlighter from Illasmasqua comes in two shades, and this is the darker of the two which is a bit too dark for my skin. I also thought it was a powder not a cream. Having said that, I don’t actually dislike the product. It’s a really nice texture but I will just have to use it over bronzer to give an extra glow, or even instead of bronzer as it is just a little too dark for me to use as a regular highlighter.
This is probably the product I was least excited about as I am a little too in love with my Lancome Hypnose Mascara. However I like the way it goes on – thick but not clumpy – making lashes look fuller and longer! And if I am being perfectly honest, it probably actually lasts longer… after a full day of Lancome Hypnose it has usually crumbled off a bit by the end of the day, but this stays put!
I have heard a lot about this brand recently… everyone raves about the pigmentation in their products which is quite impressive as it is 100% vegan and cruelty free! And the pigmentation really is good, you don’t need to use much at all and it is so vibrant and lasts for ages. On the OCC website, this colour is described as a hazel/brown shimmer, but I would say it also has a copper-y tint to it.
This is another product that I have had my eye on for a long time but never gotten around to trying. I was skeptical of it as I usually steer clear of lip pencils and matte colours as they dry out my lips, but happy to admit I was completely wrong on this one. The texture of the Lip and Cheek Pencil is surprisingly soft and creamy, and it contains moisturising ingredients such as Shea butter and Vitamin E so it doesn’t dry your lips out at all and leaves you with a smooth finish. Most of my lipstick collection comes in varying shades of nude – think Velvet Teddy by Mac or Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow – and this shade falls perfectly within that spectrum! I would definitely repurchase this in other shades too!
Overall I think is a really nice gift… it is great value for money and I would definitely recommend it! It contains some ‘cult’ beauty products and is the perfect opportunity to try some of these brands if you haven’t had the chance to before!
